Design Competition — Paris

A bottle is the first thing anyone tastes. Before the nose, before the palate, before the price, there is an object in the hand. It either tells a story or it doesn’t.

At Olio Nuovo Days Southern Hemisphere 2026, that object had its own jury. Chaired by Octave de Gaulle, founder of Spade, the design agency exploring new ways of living in space, the Design Jury examined every bottle entered, independently from the blind tasting.

Its verdict was deliberately selective. 58 entries, five distinctions. Not severity: a standard. A design award only means something if it is rare.

Best of Show

DESIGN 2026 Best Of Show ZUCCARDI

LA AGRÍCOLA S.A. — FAMILIA ZUCCARDI Temporada 2026 – Cultivar Empeltre – Argentina

The jury was struck by its evocative power and the mastery of its execution. It starts with the photograph: a single olive tree, set against a white canvas stretched in the middle of the grove. The canvas echoes the label itself, a label within the label, with the tree’s GPS coordinates as its only caption. Far from the usual visual codes of extra virgin olive oil, the tree becomes the subject, and the product gains a personality of its own. The proportions of the bottle are enhanced by a double-label construction; rounded edges, positioning and typography show that nothing has been left to chance. A bottle that tells a story beyond the product, and could move effortlessly from the finest tables to the most exacting fine food stores.

Jury Prize

DESIGN 2026 - Puertas De Guarilihue

SOCIEDAD AGRÍCOLA Y COMERCIAL PUERTAS DE GUARILIHUE LTDA — PUERTAS DE GUARILIHUE – Cultivar PICUAL – Chile

Craft and authenticity. An original proposal with a generous, well-proportioned label that gives the design a poetic quality. You sense a real product behind it, and you want to discover it. A bottle made for the centre of a generous, convivial table. A rare double: the same estate took Best of Show in the Quality Competition.

Great Design Mentions

  • LA AGRÍCOLA S.A. — FAMILIA ZUCCARDI Coratina & Arauco – Argentina
A high-quality extension of the Zuccardi identity, conveying precision and mastery through a coherent, carefully controlled design language.
  • AZEITE BATALHA AGROINDUSTRIAL — Primeira Colheita – Brazil
A generous silhouette with an elegant, almost cognac-like character. The jury’s only reservation: a transparent bottle, which leaves the oil exposed to light.
  • EMPORIO PROSPERATO — PROSPERATO Origens: Campanha Gaúcha – Brazil
A classic silhouette lifted by a beautiful, evocative illustration, giving the bottle a character that stands out on a fine grocery shelf.

Packaging does not make an oil great. But it decides whether anyone will ever find out.
